Magnatone 280B True Pitch Shifting Vibrato Vintage Guitar Amplifier NOT Tremolo Like Your fender amp
Magnatone Amplifier!.I just bought this baby and all it needed was new filter caps and a 3 prong cord! It’s BONE stock with all the original electronics other than that! This baby has STEREO pitch shifting vibrato! It uses EIGHT impossible to find VARISTORS! If one goes bad I’m screwed…but they all work perfectly because it has STEREO going on. FOUR SPEAKERS! two huge 12″ and two 5×7 on top. These babies were high end stereo amps designed by audio people but sold in small numbers. Leo Fender started putting “vibrato” in his amps when he saw these…only his just pulses in volume and doesn’t pitch shift like these babies…and forget about stereo. The sound is very chorus like with lots of real phasing going on like a Leslie. It has all these weird TV tubes in it and probably rates at 35 watts or so. I might retolex it and have one of the “tweeters” reconed. Other than that it’s an awesome amp. If you see one at a garage sale JUMP ON IT. This baby puts vintage fender amps to shame!
