Back at raxtrax Recording in Chicago, we give a listen to a rare Gibson Invader guitar combo. Thom Yorke from Radiohead once said that people put the most trust in others with symmetrical faces. That’s why I would never turn my back on the Gibson Invader.
Far more welcome an invader than the Asian longhorned beetle, the Gibson Invader guitar combo is also much less plentiful, having been produced in limited quantities in the 1960s. Rick Barnes of RaxTrax has one, however, and he happily gave GW a demonstration of the amp’s unique tonal quality, due in large part to its odd combination of differently-sized Jensen speakers.
